Title based on the ascension of rapper’s late mother to heaven

Kanye West moves into game development with Only One

Rapper, fashion designer and media fodder Kanye West has revealed his first video game.

The musical megastar took to New York’s Madison Square Garden this week to reveal his latest album, The Life of Pablo, in unison with his Yeezy Season Three clothing range.

However, a third surprise was in store. West suddenly announced that he had created a game based on the passing of his late mother, Donda West.

“The idea of the video game is my mom traveling through the gates of heaven," West explained.

The game is called Only One, which was also the name of a song released by West last year, featuring Paul McCartney.

A short trailer was played twice, backed by a score seemingly composed by the artist himself. West then dismissed those who may be cynical of his move into development.

“That’s not easy to do, man,” he said. "I go out and meet with everybody in San Fran, and they’ll diss the fuck out of me. And I’ll be like: ‘I wanna make a game.’ And they’ll be like: ‘Fuck you.’ That was hard to do, bro.”

West is the second member of his family to receive a game spin-off, following the release of Glu Mobile title Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, based on the reality TV star, who is married to West.

By coincidence, Glu recently signed a deal with Taylor Swift to produce a new mobile game based on the singer-songwriter. The artist – who West infamously upstaged at the VMAs in 2009 – is referenced in West’s new song ‘Famous’, where he proclaims: “I made that bitch famous.”
