ManoMotion announces new hand tracking SDK for VR and AR

ManoMotion, a techonolgy company based in Sweden, has announced a new SDK for motion tracking. Available to all, the software will allow users to be able to track the gestures of hands accurately using a mobile device, specifically for use in virtual and augmented reality projects.

The ‘computer vision’ company has previously offered its services on a one-to-one basis per client, rather than as a software solution for all. But the new SDK will allow its expertise and technology to be used by multiple people at once in a freemium model.

According to the press release, some of the features are:

  • People can see their actual hands and move objects in VR/AR/MR space
  • Objects can be manipulated with the right hand or the left hand
  • The movement or the pose of the hand can be determined
  • Dynamic gestures, such as swipes and clicks, can be understood for the manipulation of menus, displays, etc.
  • A set of predefined gestures, such as point, push, pinch, swipe and grab, can be accessed and utilized.

“The launch of our SDK is a significant milestone in our company’s history,” said co-founder and CEO of ManoMotion, Daniel Carlman. “It marks the start of a new community and knowledge base around gesture technology, to which ManoMotion will show undying commitment and contribution."

The software development kit will have native support for both iOS and Android and also comes with a plug-in for the Unity engine.
