Microsoft hunts producer for new Epic games

Microsoft Game Studios is seeking a highly experienced lead producer who will work with Epic to “drive the success of Gears of War”, a new job vacancy advert has revealed.

The recruitment post claims that Microsoft is seeking someone to “lead the publishing side of games made by Epic,” citing both Gears of War and Shadow Complex.

The vacancy is for a producer with “deep experience shipping games” and experience shipping “AAA current generation games” across multiple product cycles.

One job requirement read: “Build a strong working relationship with the game development team and help them with any obstacles to ensure that the game is fun and on time.” The identity of the game was not disclosed.

The Epic job itself is part of Microsoft’s new effort to ramp up its recruitment operations, having posted 29 new game-related vacancies in the past ten days, on top of the 25 it had advertised for since late October. More on that story can be found here.

The vacancy will no doubt return speculation that Microsoft is working with Epic on a new Gears of War project.

Back in September, Epic Games president Michael Capps claimed that the next Gears of War game would not be released on current-gen consoles. He later clarified, however, that another Gears of War game for the Xbox 360 was a possibility.

The Epic-MGS vacancy is for an exec who will “work with an experienced team at MGS and the world-class developers at Epic to drive the success of Gears of War and Shadow Complex in the highly competitive and fascinating world of interactive entertainment.”

Microsoft failed to comment on the matter when approached by Develop.
