Prizes galore up for grabs, plus the change to showcase your mobile and Windows game titles to an audience of millions

Microsoft’s Beautiful Game competition puts UK games in the spotlight

Microsoft has announced a new competition that will give UK games developers a chance to better show off their work through Windows app stores.

The Beautiful Game contest is open to all UK games developers that publish new games on Microsoft Windows 8 or the Windows Phone Store, or port their existing titles over to theses marketplaces.

Each game entered will be showcased on the Store, and potentially discovered and downloaded by millions of users.

For every download, they will receive points with additional points awarded for quality in areas such as audio, visuals and gameplay. Developers of the 20 titles with the most points by the end of the competition will win a range of prizes.

Prizes include Unity Pro seats, Nokia Lumia 1020s and 520s, a Chartered Institute of Marketing Apps marketing course, and the chance to attend a special mentoring event with selected TIGA and UKIE board members.

An awards ceremony will be held at Dolby’s theatre in Soho Square.

"We are working together with our supporting games industry partners to help encourage growth in the UK games industry, to recoginise and help game studios and developers of all sizes," said Microsoft’s Anand Krishnan.

"As part of this ambition we have developed a competition which seeks to provide new Store opportunities for your games as well as helping you to get your titles discovered and downloaded."

The Beautiful Game competition is now open to UK developers, and ends on June 20th, 2014. For find out more, or to enter your game, head to
