Online animation service furthers ties with popular game engine

Mixamo integrates with Unity Asset Store

Unity users will now be able to animate their characters inside the prolific game engine, following a new integration of Mixamo and the Asset Store.

As a result of the deal, Mixamo’s extensive library of animation is now accessible to developers immediately in the Unity development platform. Accessible via a free plug-in, Mixamo provides a means to browse, procedurally customise and purchase character animation in-editor.

“With Mixamo’s service integrated into the Unity Asset Store, game designers can get their characters animated incredibly quickly and without access to specialist animators,” said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies.

“It’s a real shift in the whole process – developers are getting custom character animation at a dramatically lower price than conventional means, and they don’t have to wait. In so boldly democratising creation Mixamo feels like family.”

Mixamo’s integration promises to deliver a substantial advantage over traditional character animation workflows, and provides access to thousands of professional animations and motion capture data for Unity users.
