Quebec's developers conference returns for a fifth year; Braben to keynote

Montreal Games Summit programme detailed

Details for 2008’s edition of the Montreal International Games Summit have started to emerge, including the announcement of David Braben as one of the event’s four keynote speakers.

Braben’s talk, entitled ‘Planning for the Future?’, will see the celebrated designer taking a look at recent and upcoming trends in technology and new business models, and his expectations from the sixth generation of consoles.

The event will also feature a showcase of talent native to Quebec and Canada, with over 20 local speakers set to participate – including Eidos Montreal’s Stéphane D’Astous and Ubisoft Montreal’s Dominic Guay.

The event will be split up into six tracks – game design, visual arts, technology, production, business and serious games – and will this year introduce roundtables to promote specific and open discussion.

“Following the outstanding success of last year’s event, the Montreal International Game Summit has proven itself to be the most important East Coast industry experience for North America’s video game industry,” said Alain Lachapelle, director of MIGS.

“Alliance numérique is excited to head up this year’s edition, which already is shaping up to be an ideal forum for exchange, learning and discovery among local and international game industry professionals.”

The 2008 Montreal International Game Summit takes place at the Palais de congres in Montreal from November 18th to 19th. For more information, visit the event’s official website.
