Developer submissions invited and SDK for social gaming to be available

More details on Oberon’s MySpace move

The official announcement of MySpace and Oberon Media’s upcoming Games Channel has shed more light on opportunities available to developers when the service appears next year.

Earlier today the two confirmed that MySpace would be opening MySpace Games, a new channel on the social networking site that lets users embed games from Oberon’s catalogue of casual titles into their profiles.

As part of the deal, the two have announced that they are actively encouraging "the developer community to submit their ideas for new forms of social gaming" (via myspace@oberon-media.com).

Oberon is offering an SDK designed specifically to enable multi-player and social gaming via the titles featured on MySpace users’ sites. Users will be able to play head-to-head, invite others to play the same single player game, or socialise using in-game chat services.

Tal Kerret, co-founder and chairman of Oberon Media commented: "We’re very excited to be partnering with MySpace to provide the best social networking casual games experience to its growing audience. Our white label casual gaming solution is allowing us to create a customized games platform that delivers a great experience to MySpace users. We’re looking forward to responding to users’ needs and to involving the best game developers to create the greatest online entertainment experience."
