Games Lab project strives to boost social network's offering

MySpace calls for more in-house developers

MySpace is launching a pilot program that hopes to welcome social games developers in-house, where they will be charged with creating or expanding on their game titles.

Named MySpace Games Lab, the new drive hopes to offer studios rapid feedback and aid them in quickly turning around iterations of their game’s features.

The social network, which now lags behind Facebook in terms of users despite an early lead when the format first caught the public’s attention, has stated that partnering with developers and opening the platform is key to introducing its customers to creative output from the games industry. Myspace has also been working with Playdom to incorporate its feedback and refine product roadmap priorities.

“Working closely with MySpace has allowed us to launch and extend successful titles like Mobsters and Sorority Life,” said John Pleasants, chief executive officer of Playdom.
