Mobile firm set up by veteran Neil Young takes over Swedish developer

N3twork acquires Nio Games

N3twork has acquired Stockholm-based development studio Nio Games.

The deal is part of N3twork’s mission to “redefine mobile quality”, with the firm planning to use the studio’s talents to help create a new standard in mobile games.

Nio’s Paul Wilkinson and the rest of the team will be retained as part of N3twork. Wilkinson has worked on games since the NES and Game Boy era, with highlights including stints as an engineer on The Sims, lead engineer on the mobile version of Diner Dash, and director of mobile development at King in Stockholm.

“The Nio team is a formidable group, with experience at Zynga, PlayFirst, Disney, Electronic Arts, and SGN,” said N3twork CEO Neil Young.

“These people have all worked on hugely successful titles in the past, and I’m incredibly pleased to bring their expertise into the fold here at N3twork. We think they are the terrific addition to our growing team as we explore the future of mobile and ultra-mobile games.”
