Sergio Pimentel joins audio production house to head up new music supervision arm

Nimrod welcomes music licensing veteran

Audio production house Nimrod has hired music licensing veteran Sergio Pimentel.

The industry stalwart, who previously established the music licensing department at SCEE, joins the company as director of music and licensing. In his new role Pimentel is to head up a new arm concentrating on music supervision.

Pimentel bring’s experience having worked on IP such as SingStar, Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet, and Wipeout. More recently he lead Activison Blizzard’s European department working on Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and other titles famed for their use of licensed tracks.

“I have known [Nimrod’s founders] Marc Canham and Rich Aitken throughout the time we’ve all been working on game audio and have collaborated on many occasions," said Pimentel. We’ve always talked about joining forces and with our most recent collaboration as music supervisors for OneBigGame, this was the catalyst for us to work closely together again.

"I’m extremely excited to be heading up Nimrod’s Music Supervision arm and working with one of the most talented audio companies in the industry. The raft of services that Nimrod is able to offer covers the whole spectrum of audio needs and I can’t wait to get started."

Pimentel and Nimrod’s Canham are both currently working supervising music for Masaya Matsuura’s WINtA, and have a number of other music projects nearing conception.

“Getting Sergio on board to head up all our key services is a very natural evolution for Nimrod. Having someone with that level of experience and talent is an extremely exciting prospect," stated Canham. "Over the past 10 years we have developed a raft of successful audio departments for the video game world; including composition, the NSO orchestral team, mixing and production, VO, and more recently introducing these services to the film world with projects such as The Disappearance of Alice Creed. It’s great to have someone of Sergio’s skill overseeing and helping us develop these important services.”
