The OpenGL architecture review board officially unveiled OpenGL 3 at Siggraph in San Diego earlier this week.
The official name of what was code-named ‘Open GL Longs Peak’ OpenGL 3 promises increased efficiency for the 2D and 3D graphics standard.
Specs are on track to be finalised at the next meeting of the ARB at the end of the month – the official public specification should therefore be out at the end of September, once the 30-day approval from the Khronos Group, which looks after the API, has passed.
