Visionary just sold Gaikai to Sony for $380m. Tomorrow hundreds will see him get top games honour

Over 550 will see Perry pick up Legend accolade

550 people representing over 100 different companies will be on hand to see David Perry named Development Legend tomorrow night.

The Gaikai CEO is special guest at the tenth annual Develop Awards on the evening of Wednesday, July 10th where he will enter the games development ‘hall of fame’, honouring his achievements in games over the last 20 years.

Perry has most recently secured massive support from Sony, which stepped in to buy the cloud streaming business for $380m last week.

But he’s an icon of games development too, respected and widely quoted, an avid lecturer and business leader.

He devised Earthworm Jim, formed Shiny Entertainment, and has pushed heavily into online games and gaming technology.

His award is just one of 21 handed out tomorrow night. Other awards up for grabs are New IP, Visual Arts, Technical Innovation, New Studio, and the much-coveted Grand Prix.

Winners for those will be named at a gala ceremony tomorrow night.

A handful of tickets are still available – contact Kathryn.Humphrey@intentmedia.co.uk if you’d like to attend.
