Assassin's Creed creator finally breaks silence about first game from new studio Panache Digital

Patrice Désilets reveals Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

Ancestors: the Humankind Odyssey will be the first game to emerge from Patrice Désilets’ studio Panache Digital.

“Our game is a third person action-adventure survival episodic game,” the studio has said. “Through each episodes, we want the player to relive the greatest moments of mankind with a documentary twist. Our civilisation is one idea away from extinction… or evolution.”

Eurogamer reports that the title was first revealed this morning at the Reboot Develop 2015 conference in Dubrovnik.

Little is known of it as of yet, although a video shown at the event suggested it would be based on the early history of mankind. It is described as a “short, episodic-ish triple-A game”. It is currently in development by Panache’s six-man team.

Désilets added that his legal tussle with Ubisoft, which kicked off following his sacking from the publisher in 2013, is still ongoing and that he hasn’t given up the hope of winning back the rights to 1666 – the title he was working on at the time.

"I have nothing against Ubisoft the company," he added. "I have nothing against the people at Ubisoft that are making those amazing games. I have a business issue. Without Ubisoft and the huge teams they gave me, I would not be here. I am happy – this is first time I’ve said it."
