New addition for the ever-growing industry association

Phonetic Arts talked into joining Tiga

Speech technology firm Phonetic Arts has become the latest member of industry body Tiga.

The firm’s core tech aims to generate natural and expressive speech in real-time. Its product suite, called PA 2010, has already been licensed by many leading game studios such as Sony, Creative Assembly, Ninja Theory, Bethesda, EA Sports, DICE and BioWare.

“With world leading expertise in all aspects of speech technology, our goal is to free games developers from the constraints of recorded samples and allow them to create rich, meaningful and responsive dialog within their games,” said company CEO Paul Taylor.

“The core of the company is the R&D team who develop the speech algorithms that ensure the highest possible speech quality and performance.”

The firm said it joined Tiga because it wants to support independent developers “and enable them to create expressive, realistic speech in their games whether it is a small iPhone game or a triple-A console title”.

The group added: “There is a wealth of talent in the UK and we are proud to be a member the UK gaming community.”

Tiga CEO Richard Wilson welcomed the move.

“Phonetic Arts is a fantastic example of a UK company delivering cutting-edge, world beating technology to a global marketplace. We welcome Phonetic Arts to TIGA and look forward to working closely with them in the future.”
