Pokémon developer Game Freak is currently on the lookout for a few good employees. Employees with previous experience creating 3D character models for the Wii U and PS Vita using animation software Maya.
That’s not enough to fuel nigh-endless ‘Pokémon on console’ speculation, but the company are also looking for a 3D CG designer to "get involved with developing an RPG that’s popular worldwide" that will be on consoles.The contract will be running until May 2018 at the latest, so whatever it is, we’ll get to see it soon enough. It certainly appears that a Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch could be in the works, and that’s interesting for developers because for a long time Pokémon’s roleplaying antics have been confined solely to Nintendo’s handheld console.
It’s still rumoured for now, but if this is the first step as Nintendo’s typically handheld titles leap to consoles, lots of people are going to want to keep an eye on Nintendo to see what’s next.
