Evolution Studios’ PS4 exclusive Driveclub is going back to the drawing board, according to to the head of software product development at Sony Worldwide Studios America.
Speaking to IGN, Scott Rohde said the console firm did not want to release the title before it was ready, having previously slated the game to launch alongside the PS4 back in November.
He said releasing the racing game in its previous state would have been a disservice to players as it was not ready.
"Sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realise that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready," he said.
“So, I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, we’re willing to kinda eat that [cost] and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it. And that’s what’s going on right now with that game.”
Despite having continued development since November, Rohde did not offer any firm date on when the game would be released, and refused to confirm if it would launch this year.
