Psyonix speak out over Rocket League betting

Psyonix has come out against online gambling, particularly online gambling on its popular car-based kickabout Rocket League, after video games gambling outfit Unikrn has added the title to its Australian line-up.

Unikrn is a platform that allows users to bet real-world cash on competitive video games, and it’s said that Rocket League has been approved by Australian regulators, although it hasn’t yet mentioned whether or not it’s been given the go-ahead in the UK, the only other place in which Unikrn operates cash betting.

Psyonix has told Gamespot that it doesn’t support betting on Rocket League, with the company’s VP of publishing Jeremy Dunham claiming: "Psyonix is not affiliated with Unikrn, nor do we support or endorse online betting for our game."

While Psyonix has been quick to speak out against the practice it remains to be seen whether or not they’ll take any actions try and stop the betting procedure.

In response, Unikrn’s CEO Rahul Sood has said: "not in any way associated with the publishers of Rocket League". He added: "However, we love the game, and like other titles on our sportsbook, we create odds and content on the pro matches and their top-tier tournaments."
