Early bird offer starts as Ubisoft, Sega and audio experts join July event speaker roster

Registration opens for 2009 Develop Conference

Momentum behind this year’s Develop Conference and Expo continues to build, with key names joining the speaker line-up as registration opens.

Attendees can now sign up for a pass at the conference’s official site www.developconference.com.

Organiser Tandem Events is offering a much simpler system for passes this year, with the costs reduced as well – there are also early bird discounts of 20 per cent are available until June 10th and 10 per cent discounts for TIGA and IGDA members. One day passes are also now available at £250 each.

The event takes place from July 14th to 16th at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton.

Meanwhile, a number of key speakers have signed up for the event.

Sony’s Peter Edward will offer an overview of PS3’s new online service in his talk ‘PlayStation Home – First Term Report’, while Ubisoft Shanghai’s Michael de Plater will conduct a design post-mortem of the team’s first game in the session ‘Tom Clancy’s EndWar: An After Action Report’.

Plus, acclaimed musician Allan Wilson who has worked with leading names in both games and movie audio (James Hannigan, Richard Jacques, Russell Shaw, Jack Wall, Jeremy Soule, Danny Elfman, Christopher Young, Michael Giacchino, Christopher Lennertz, Graeme Revel, Marco Beltrami and many others) will conduct ‘Orchestral Soundtracks For Videogames Masterclass’. This session promises to detail the vital dos and don’ts for a successful orchestral project.

Elsewhere, organisers have also confirmed a new part of the event for 2009 – the Develop Den. Run with the help of the One Life Left radio show crew, on the Thursday, the Den will offer off-the-wall sessions in a creative space.

The Den follows confirmation that the event’s Tuesday will also take a new form with Evolve, a one-day track looking at how to develop games for new platforms including mobile, iPhone and XBLA, new technologies and new markets like social and casual gaming.
