League of Legends developer Riot Games has openend a new office in India. Situated in the Gurugram district of New Dehli, the office is looking to employ people from the region to support the growing player base.

Riot have 19 offices across the globe, including one in London and in Dublin. The move signals a continued effort by the company to move in to regional markets and grow the communites for League of Legends and its competitive esports scene at a local level.

League of Legends has grown in to a global phenomenon since its release in 2009. The company recieved a special BAFTA Award at E3 this past week in recognition of the studio’s creative contribution to the games industry.

The annoucement on the Riot website was accompanied with jobs listings for the office and a statement that empowered potential applicatants to help find ‘unique solutions’ for the region.

"India presents a unique challenge," the Riot news post reads. "How do we grow a gaming culture that’s just finding its footing? The Riot India team will need to figure out unique solutions that work for India, so expect plenty of experimentation in publishing and community strategy in a startup-like environment.

"We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take work — and play — seriously. A visitor to Riot India has an equal chance of finding the team engrossed in a discussion around strategy and operations, as in a battle on Summoner’s Rift. We’re gamers and we talk, dress, and act as such. No suits, ties, or formal attire here.

"Riot believes in empowering our regional teams, so the vision, goals, and objectives of Team India will be developed by you in conjunction with your fellow India Rioters."
