Niklas Zennstrom's personal worth put at £320 million

Rovio investor tops gaming Rich List

Multi-millionaire Niklas Zennstrom has become the richest games industry Briton in the annual Sunday Times Rich List, having made a landmark investment in Angry Birds creator Rovio.

Early in March, Zennstrom was a key component of a $42 million Rovio investment round, and paid his way to become a board member of the mobile games giant.

That key investment makes him the wealthiest games industry person in the Rich List, with an estimated personal worth of £320 million.

Rich List regulars Andrew and Paul Gower (£145 million), Jon Burton (£75 million) and Chris Stamper ($75 million) also make the list.

The Gowers made their millions by establishing UK independent stronghold Jagex.

Industry veteran Burton established the Traveller’s Tales empire back in 1990 in Knutsford, Cheshire. The business has blossomed for two decades and was sold to TimeWarner in 2007 for $100 million.
