Angry Birds developer Rovio has reported more than $106m in revenue for 2011, the company has revealed.
The mobile games giant reported earnings before tax of $67.6m, largely driven by growth in game downloads and consumer product sales.
Merchandisning and licensing incoming generated approximately 30 per cent of total revenue, with the developer working with more than 200 licensing partners on creating new products and services for its flagship franchise.
"The strong growth in revenue clearly demonstrates the popularity of the Angry Birds brand,” Said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed.
“The heavy investments made in 2011 to all business areas will be seen in future products. To ensure continuous success we need to be creative and stay focused on entertaining our millions of fans by continuously developing new and innovative products and services."
The total number of Angry Birds game downloads has surpassed 648 million, with more than 200 million active users playing the titles every month.
The company also stated that the number of employees had grown from 28 to 224, an 800 per cent rise.
