Splash Damage continues to snap up new recruits, recently welcoming five new recruits to its senior ranks as development on its collaboration with Bethesda Softworks ploughs forwards.
First up is Dene Calver, who joins the firm as lead programmer. Calver previously worked as lead programmer at Ninja Theory on Heavenly Sword, and before that worked on Sudeki and the much-acclaimed Silent Hill 2. Also jumping off the Ninja Theory ship is Mark Lack, another Heavenly Sword alumni who’ll be taking the role of senior environment artist at the studio.
Next up is Mattias Engström, who has been appointed to the role of senior technical designer. Engström is previously of Swedish World In Conflict developer Massive, where he was chief mission designer.
Fabio Bonvicini joins the team as animation technical director from EA UK, where he worked on Black and Harry Potter, and Oliver Jauncey comes on board as a senior programmer having contributed to big titles such as Mass Effect and TimeSplitters 2.
“Despite the reported industry skills shortage, we’re constantly amazed at the quality of candidates applying at Splash Damage,” said studio owner Paul Wedgwood. “We’re building the best team we’ve ever had.”
“I’m really excited to be starting here,” said Calver. “I had the luxury of taking the time to pick a studio and role that really seemed to fit and this is it.”
Mattias Engström added: “Splash Damage is a lovely place to work at, with lots of talented people, all gamers at heart, all passionate about the things they do. It’s inspiring.”
