Smileworks to create games for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia Symbian

Square Enix opens mobile studio in Indonesia

Square Enix has opened a new mobile game development studio in Indonesia.

Called Smileworks, the office currently houses 23 staff, comprised of three developers from Japan and the rest of the employees from the local region.

Square Enix Smileworks will be headed by Hiroaki Kanamaru.

Speaking at the studio’s opening, Kanamaru said the studio aimed to create original games and help make Indonesia an influential development hub on the global stage.

The developer will focus on platforms including iOS, Android, Nokia Symbian and Windows Phone.
