Undergrad and studio CEO â??amazedâ?? to be listed among top talent

Student’s shock delight at 30 Under 30 selection

An aspiring undergraduate games developer has revealed his surprise and delight at featuring in this year’s Develop 30 Under 30 list of rising industry stars.

University of Portsmouth undergraduate Orcun Adsoy, 22, was named in Develop’s annual list “for his diversity of talent and milestones already passed at his young age”, said Develop deputy editor Will Freeman.

Adsoy set up Distinction Games while completing his Computer Games Technology BSc at the University of Portsmouth.

He said he was “amazed to find out I’d made this list as some of the other people featured are working for big names in the industry or are already big names themselves.”

Adsoy, also the CEO for Distinction Games, has worked on projects for companies like Blitz and Red Redemption – still while on his final year at University.

He has spent time in Japan building contacts with Namco Bandai and Digital Hollywood University, according to a statement released by the University of Portsmouth.

The University’s creative technologies lecturer Mark Eyles nominated Orcun for a place in the final 30 Under 30 list.

“It’s terrific that one of our students has been selected for this prestigious list,” said Eyles.

“Develop is a well-regarded magazine in the trade and Orcun deserves the recognition. He’s worked incredibly hard to progress his company and has some exciting projects in the pipeline – he’s definitely one to watch.”
