Swedish mobile outfit Like A Boss Games secures $1.6m funding

Swedish mobile outfit Like A Boss Games has secured $1.6m in funding.

The start-up was founded in 2015 and received $500,000 in investment shortly after in addition to an undisclosed amount in funding from Milky Way Cap earlier in 2017.

The studio is currently working on competitive and social games targeting sports fans, looking to bring a social multiplayer experience to several of the biggest global sports brands. Their first release is planned for 2018.

The company is headed up by CEO Alex Aguilera, formerly of EA, ViaPlay and Glorious Games, who told PocketGamer.Biz:

"We aim to become one of the leading sports games studios and we are really looking forward to soon be able to show what the team has been working on for the last year,"

"It will be our first out of several multiplayer game releases in the near future."

Currently, the studio bills itself as "in stealth mode" so there’s no further information on what they might be working on. In a 2015 interview with Nordicgamebits, Aguilera said the Studio was hoping to soft launch their first title at the end of 2016.

“What separates us from most gaming startups is that LAB Games is targeting very niche communities within the sports sector so we are laser focused on who our games needs to attract and entertain.”

Other investors in the company include Almi Invest and King alumni Fredrik Åhlberg.
