Irish game consultant heads to U.S. startup

Tadhg Kelly joins Jawfish Games

U.S. startup Jawfish Games has scooped up Irish gaming consultant Tadhg Kelly.

Kelly, who recieved a working visa in the U.S. in July, is a twenty year gaming veteran who began his career in table-top and live action roleplaying games before heading to video games.

He joins Jawfish, a team that has its roots in online gambling, but moved into the social sector a year ago with a unique emphasis on real-time multiplayer games.

"Video games are an art as they are today and often best interpreted through the lens of sports rather than board games," says Kelly on his blog.

"Their future is tightly wound with free-to-play economics."

"Though we come from very different places, the Jawfish people believe those things too. Fast multiplayer gaming is the sort of thing that could disrupt what we think we know and shape the industry’s next big gear-shift."

Jawfish has already launched Word Rack for Facebook, which brings competitive tournament-based gameplay to the social sector.

The company plans to take this setup to casino-type games next year.
