UKIE announce UK Game of the Show award is coming to GDC 2017

UKIE have announced that they’ll be bringing their UK Game of the Show Award to GDC 2017.

UKIE have organised a UK Game of the Show award at Cologne-based Gamescom for several years now, with past winners including PaperSeven’s Blackwood Crossing and Pixel Games’ Gunnihilation. This is the first time they’ve taken the trip to GDC with the award, but it’s a good way to put a spotlight on some of the best UK games to travel across the pond to the event in San Francisco, occurring at the end of this month.

The award is sponsored by Reality Games at GDC this year, and the recipient of the award will be announced at UKIE’s UK industry drinks reception on Wednesday evening.

Zbigniew John Woznowski, CEO of Reality Games, said in a statement, "We understand very well how hard it is to be noticed in the gaming world, because just 2 years ago we were an Indie developer who was trying to get our foot in the door. We want to support UK talent and we know that if you get your first award, you will be motivated to work harder to develop great gaming experiences."
Dr Jo Twist OBE, CEO of Ukie, added, “The UK is the largest game development centre in Europe and every year the UK Game of the Show Award shines a spotlight on the best unreleased titles, developed by UK companies, at gamescom. This year we are delighted to bring the award to GDC for the first time, flying the flag for British talent, overseas. Thanks to our secret judges and our sponsors Reality Games who will be scouting the show floor and I look forward to playing the winning game."

Showing a UK game? Don’t worry about any entering or application process, UKIE’s anonymous judges and assistants will be roaming the floor to find any great UK titles.
