Unity will be releasing a deployment add-on for BlackBerry 10 in the summer, it has revealed.
The middleware outfit is currently working with BlackBerry to enable its developers to publish on the new smartphone device, and the deployment tools will also be available for BlackBerry PlayBook tablets running the BlackBerry 10 OS.
The tool will be released as an add-on option for Unity.
BlackBerry also said it would seed the Unity development community with BlackBerry 10s for testing in an effort to provide developers with an ideal environment to create games on the platform.
Unity and BlackBerry will also be holding a number of developer meet-ups in Europe and North America, with “qualified” developer attendees receiving Unity Pro and BlackBerry 10.
“Unity developers have an extensive catalogue of incredible mobile games, many of which are award-winning. We’re excited to offer Unity developers easy access to the new powerful and rich BlackBerry 10 platform,” said Unity CEO David Helgason.
“We’re eager to provide them with another exciting avenue to have their games devoured by an audience hungry for entertainment.”
A free beta will begin for the deployment tools in spring, and the full add-on will be released in the summer.
