Unity expands into Japan

Unity Technologies is to open a new subsidiary in Japan, the company has announced.

The engine vendor said it will use its new Tokyo office to serve as a sales, localisation and support centre.

“The establishment of the Unity Technologies Japan office and the addition to our company of such a knowledgeable, passionate team further cement Unity
Technologies’ commitment to democratise games development globally,” said Unity Technologies CEO David Helgason (pictured).

“We look forward to offering the Japanese development community local support.”

Helgason will be presenting a Unity session concerning the company’s expansion into Tokyo on 8th September at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference in Japan.

The Unity engine has more than 500,000 registered users worldwide, Unity said.
