Metal Gear creator will be working with former colleague and close friend Kyle Cooper

VR firm Prologue Immersive adds Hideo Kojima to advisory board

Hideo Kojima has joined the advisory board at Prologue Immersive, a company that specialises in virtual and augmented reality projects.

The father of Metal Gear will assist the firm in exploring the possibilities for VR, working alongside co-founder and CEO Kimberly Cooper and her partner Kyle Cooper.

“I’m very excited to hear that masters of the visual arts such as Kyle Cooper and his team are taking on yet another challenge in this digital interactive media that is VR," said Kojima in the official statement. "Through VR, I am certain they will strive to connect films and video games and take us on to that bridge to the future that lies ahead.

"It would be my absolute pleasure to assist the Coopers on this new adventure they are embarking on. We can expect a whole new world of entertainment. 2016 will surely be remembered as Year One for VR.”

The appointment represents something of a reunion for Kojima and Kyle Cooper, who have worked together since the first Metal Gear Solid and have been "close friends… for over 17 years". Cooper was responsible for several Metal Gear cinematic sequences, including the intros to MGS2 and 3.

We interviewed Hideo Kojima about his new studio, Death Stranding and more following his Development Legend win at the Develop Awards earlier this year. Check out the full interview here.
