Deus Ex and Epic Mickey creator to discuss animation at Bradford event

Warren Spector to keynote BAF Game

Industry veteran Warren Spector is to keynote November conference BAF Game.

The developer – who created the Deus EX and System Shock IP, and later lead the Epic Mickey titles – will discuss his love of animation and the influence of his famed obsession with Disney over his game designs.

“We’re just hugely excited to have industry legend Warren Spector here for BAF Game 2013," said festival programmer Jamie Sefton. "Deus Ex is such a massively influential game, and Warren’s recent game design work at Disney for the Epic Mickey titles will form the backdrop of what I’m sure will be a fascinating talk about his genuine love of animation.”

The Indie Stone’s co-designer and technical artist Andy Hodgetts is is also set to deliver a BAF Game sessions titled Pixellating the Apocalypse. Hodgetts, who’s studio created indie hit Project Zomboid, will tackle a range of issue around developing on zero budgets, including how ‘freedom from the shackles of the third dimension allows for flexibility, creativity and more than a little bleakness’.

Meanwhile Kevin Carthew, creative manager at long-standing UK indie Team 17, will deliver a talk on the outfit’s most popular games, and address the changing animation and art styles required for modern games development on multiple platforms.

BAF Game is a strand of the Bradford Animation Festival – AKA BAF 2013 – and takes place on November 12th to 13th this year in Bradford. Visit the event’s official site for more details.
