Hewlett Packard has chosen to use WildTangent’s games platform for use in its new HP Games Console, an entertainment offer built into its desktop and notebook PCs.
The HP Games Console is pre-installed with 30 casual titles from the arcade, puzzle and card genres, developed by the likes of WidTangent Studios, PlayFirst, Sandlot, PopCap and Eidos – and customers can go online using the platform to download more directly from WildTangent.
The service will offer a variety of ways to download and pay for games – either via straight payment and download, sponsored sessions with ad-supported periods of free play, or a service that uses WildTangent’s game credit-based WildCoins system.
"HP alone represents a larger distribution platform for games than any next-generation gaming console in the world," expalined Alex St. John, chief executive officer of WildTangent, in the original announcement. "We will offer HP customers around the globe a catalog of hundreds of popular casual and enthusiast games localized in all major languages."

"By providing customers with out-of-the-box access to popular casual and enthusiast games, HP is making the computer more personal while offering customers the additional value they expect."
