Tool suit to offer flexible and affordable AI for games beginning development

Xaitment launches BrainPack AI solution

German solutions provider xaitment has released BrainPack, a suite of AI tools built on the company’s xaitFramework 2.5.

The BrainPack is intended for use by studios in the early stages of development needing flexible and affordable tools, and is available for Windows, Linux, Wii, 360 and PS3.

“Artificial intelligence is one of the most important aspects of today’s games; yet, given the costs of some AI applications, developers rarely incorporate it into their demos,” said Dr. Andreas Gerber, CEO of xaitment.

“For that reason, I’m very excited about our newest product, the BrainPack. Now every developer with a good idea can build game demos with AI capabilities equal to some of the best games on the market.”

A cost-efficient license concept means studios can sign up for BrainPack free of charge to realise their concept. Once the project is picked up by a publisher or released developers can move to the full license.

BrainPack, which also offers optional support for a fee, allows game makers to create navigation meshes, control the movement of characters in-game, and build probabilistic, hierarchical finite state machines to improve game logic.
