Dying Light studio sends first-person fantasy game back to the drawing board

Development on Techland’s Hellraid stopped dead

Polish developer Techland has ceased development on Hellraid, a dark fantasy first-person action game.

The title was originally due for release by the end of the year, but the project has been scrapped for now as it was “not meeting our own expectations”.

The resources and development team will instead focus on building on the hit Dying Light franchise.

“In the recent months, we conducted an internal analysis and came to the conclusion that Hellraid, in it’s current shape and form, is not meeting our own expectations for this project,” the team explained via a blog post.

“Therefore we decided the best course of action would be to send it back to the drawing board and invent our dark fantasy title anew.

“We wish to thank all our fans for your support – you’re the best.”

Dying Light became a smash hit for Techland when it was released earlier this year. You can read the studio’s autopsy – and handy tips – on its social media strategy here.
