Tacticsoft has raised $1m in funding towards its next projects.

The company is one of the longest-running games firms in Israel, having set up shop in Tel Aviv back in 2007. It is best known for browser MMO Battle Dawn, as well as last year’s mobile action title Super Mechs.

VentureBeat reports the funding came primarily from London Venture Partners and Israeli angel investor Gigi Levy-Weiss, although the involvement of the latter helped bring in more investors. There are more than 12 angel investors backing Tacticsoft – including one of its players.

The money will go towards future games, and assist with development of Battle Dawn: Earth Arena, a mobile follow-up to its flagship title.

CEO Michael Rosen said: “Getting bootstrapped gets you so far when you are entering a new market for building an ambitious game. We are hoping to bring something new to the strategy genre.”

Levy-Weiss added: “The Israeli gaming industry is booming with talent as demonstrated by the recent Playtika acqusition. When Michael and his team presented their vision for their upcoming mobile games, I was deeply impressed.”
