Research In Motion has announced that its BlackBerry App World store is now generating three million downloads a day.
The news was revealed in a tweet by the store’s product manager Alex Kinsella yesterday, although it appears to have been taken down since. BerryReview preserved an image of it though.
It represents rapid progress for the store, since little more than a month ago, RIM announced that App World had hit the two million daily downloads milestone.
What has fuelled this sharp growth since Mobile World Congress-time? While announcing the two million milestone, RIM also said that its store was launching in 27 more countries, taking it past the 100 mark.
They included the likes of Denmark, Finland, Russia and Sweden, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that the rate of daily downloads has jumped. RIM has some way to go to catch up with Apple, whose App Store is doing roughly 33 million daily downloads at the moment.
