GDC version of B2B networking event hailed a success

4,200 meetings held at Game Connection America

The organisers of last week’s Game Connection America have hailed the event a great success, saying that across three days the event helped facilitate 4,200 meetings between publishers and developers, and was attended by 158 exhibitors and over 120 publishers.

Game Connection brings together studios and publishers in ‘speed dating’ style meetings and pitches. The event took place from February 19th to 21st.

Organiser Connection Events said the event was key for burgeoning independents. First time attendees for 2008 included Running with Scissors, developer of Postal, and Acquire, creator of Tenchu.

“San Francisco 2008 edition was our first time at the Game Connection. We are extremely happy with the event. We expected to meet main game industry actors and it fully met our expectations. We’ve loved the online meeting system and we are already planning to participate to the next edition,” said Dominique Cor, CEO and Jean-Philippe Lahoussaye-Duvigny, COO of movie game specialist MKO Games, another new exhibitor.

Connection Events’ next Game Connection is Game Connection Asia, held during the Tokyo Game Show. The firm is also co-organising Paris GDC.
