Looking for a new job in 2016? You could be in luck, as a TIGA survey suggests that 60 per cent of UK games firms will be taking on new staff.

The trade body’s latest study reveals that more than half of the 52 participating companies “plan to grow their organisation’s workforce a little” during the next year, with 12 per cent planning more significant recruitment drives.

Elsewhere, there was a general sense of optimism amongst the companies surveyed.

More than half – 54 per cent – of respondents said the potential of investment in their business, such as training, new games development and R&D, was more optimistic than in 2015. 66 per cent expected their company’s profits to rise this year.

67 per cent claimed their company was performing “well” or “very well”.

It wasn’t all good news, however. 46 per cent of participating firms said the biggest hurdle they face in 2016 was “limited access to finance”, while 56 per cent believe their company’s costs are likely to increase over the next 12 months.
