Intel has recently launched a new solution for cross-platform development: the Multi-OS Engine, which enables you to use the same Java codebase to create Android and – wait for it – iOS apps. Using it, you can build apps in Java that compile for Android or iOS, and are written using a host platform of Windows or OS X.

The software is now available for download as a beta. Check out the samples to get an idea of how it works, and perhaps it can streamline the development of your next app.

To find out more about how it works, see this technical blog that includes the development workflow. It outlines how you can use Android Studio to build your project, use Multi-OS Engine’s UI designer to make your UI for iOS, and run your app on the iOS Simulator which is integrated into Android Studio by Multi-OS Engine.

This blog post is written by Softtalkblog, and is sponsored by the Intel Developer Zone, which helps you to develop, market and sell software and apps for prominent platforms and emerging technologies powered by Intel Architecture.
