Remedy renovates old IP for mobiles

Alan Wake studio becomes latest in App Store race

Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment has joined the growing number of triple-A studios allocating resources to mobile games development.

The studio, which took around five years to develop Alan Wake, will soon release an iPhone and iPad remake of its debut 1996 title Death Rally.

The game has been in development as Remedy’s other team has been creating Alan Wake DLC.

Remedy is one of many independent studios joining the App Store and smartphone games race, where success can yield huge profits from games with relatively small budgets.

Established studios, from Epic Games to LucasArts to the Rockstar staple, have each become converts to the mobile games market.

Studios such as A2M (now named Behaviour) and Jagex are lining up further games for the mobile space.
