Alexis Kennedy, co-founder of UK developer Failbetter Gamers, is working on a mysterious new project with BioWare.
The lead writer behind Sunless Sea – set in the same universe as Failbetter’s Fallen London – has revealed he is working alongside Dragon Age creators Mike Laidlaw and Patrick Weekes, Eurogamer reports. He left the studio earlier this year.
Kennedy previously worked on text-based browser game The Last Court for the acclaimed studio, a title that bridged the gap between Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition.
Given that Mass Effect Andromeda is in its final stages of production, and neither Laidlaw nor Weekes are attached to BioWare’s as-yet-unannounced new IP, it is highly likely Kennedy has been brought in for a fourth Dragon Age.
"I'll be starting in January for a six-month-plus engagement," he said. "In terms of working with BioWare, [I thought] Dragon Age: the Last Court was as close as I'd ever get. I'm an indie to the lobes of my liver and BioWare don't hire freelance writers. So when they made an exception and offered me the gig, I could neither stand still nor stop swearing.”
