Devs can implement leaderboards, achievements and game syncing through GameCircle

Amazon App Store rolls out in Europe

Amazon has rolled out its own App Store across Europe.

The web store is now available across the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain and will include a number of Android apps from the likes of Rovio and PopCap.

The App Store will include many common features such as personalised recommendations, customer reviews and one-click payments.

Amazon said it hoped to continue rolling out new services and features to make it “the most complete end-to-end solution” for developers.

Apps can be developed through Amazon Web Service’s infrastructure platform, whilst features such as leaderboards, achievements and game syncing can also be implemented through GameCircle.

Amazon’s App Store has become something of a hit in the US since its launch, offering tens of thousands of apps and the option to demo product to consumers, as well as functions such as in-app purchases.

“Customers in the US have purchased millions of apps, games, in-app items and subscriptions since the store launched last year, and we’ve received great feedback about discovery features like Free App of the Day,” said Amazon App Store VP Jim Adkins.

“We evaluate and test games and apps before making them available in the App Store so we ensure customers have a great experience with the games and apps they purchase.

“Amazon has spent years developing innovative features that help customers find and discover the products that are right for them and have applied that know-how to the Amazon App Store. We’re delighted to extend that experience to our European customers.”

Interested developers can find out about submission and re-appropriating their apps with localised resource files for international distribution at Amazon’s own distribution portal.
