AMD is the latest big tech company to enter the virtual reality market, announcing its forthcoming product LiquidVR.

Developed with help from Oculus, LiquidVR is designed to improve latency in any virtual reality titles running on AMD hardware and deal with common discomforts such as motion sickness, according to GameSpot.

AMD claims the SDK will include tools and technology that “address obstacles in content” and “comfort and compability that together take the industry a major step closer to true, life-life presence across all VR experiences”.

The firm has released an alpha version of the LiquidVR SDK but only to registered developers.

Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe said: “Achieving presence in a virtual world continues to be one of the most important elements to delivering amazing VR. We’re excited to have AMD working with us on their part of the latency equation.”

AMD will no doubt be sharing more about LiquidVR at its stand in GDC’s Business Center this week. Head for Booths No.BMR2837, BM2835 and BM2833.
