The Google Play store is the latest platform to allow developers to launch their work-in-progress games in ‘Early Access’.

The Android app platform has introduced a new Early Access category, which will showcase a select number of unreleased titles and open beta tests to users.

Google’s Android team added that it was making open betas easier to find across the board, allowing them to appear in search results and offering users the chance to opt-in directly from a Play store listing.

Players will also be permitted to send creators private feedback from a game’s store page, making testing and improvements ahead of release more convenient.

The Play store will also debut smart ‘collections’, which will suggest new apps to users that may not have heard of them.
