Search for ten high-flying programmers begins April

Angry Birds studio opens academy scheme

Rovio, the Finnish studio behind Angry Birds, has helped establish a new six-month training programme to help aspiring developers join its team.

Known as the Rovio Academy, the course is open to Finnish-speaking individuals with a sharp understanding of C++. Rovio is looking to hire ten programmers from the course and internship scheme.

A deadline for submissions has been set to February 20th, with the course starting around five weeks later.

Rovio, which organised the initiative along with the Finnish government and Saranen Consulting, has been the envy of numerous publishers after its flagship game Angry Birds thunderbolted onto the mobile games scene.

The developer has turned down numerous acquisition and investment bids, though has agreed to partner with film company 20th Century Fox to tie the brand with an upcoming animated movie.
