Animation studio picks up gong for Killzone 2 trailer

Axis wins gold at Roses Design Awards

Axis Animation has secured Roses Design Awards recognition for its work on the Killzone 2 trailer.

The Glasgow-based studio, which was nominated for six awards at the event, took home gold in the Best Use of Animation category for its Killzone 2 trailer, which was directed by Stuart Aitken and produced by Debbie Ross for clients Sony Computer Entertainment and Guerrilla Games.

"It is great to see all types of gaming and games marketing sitting alongside more traditional forms of design and communications" said Axis executive producer Richard Scott. "It just reinforces how deep gaming is penetrating into the mainstream consciousness. We are delighted to see the hard work and creativity that’s behind promoting and marketing games being recognized."

"Killzone 2 was one of our most ambitious projects to date." added director Stuart Aitken. "The whole team put in a lot of hard work to create a piece of animation that had drama, action and amazing attention to detail. It’s great to see all that effort getting recognition."

The Roses Design Awards included video game categories for the first time this year. In the other gaming categories Matmi took gold for Best Mobile/Hand Held Game, Fluid took two prizes for its work promoting Sega’s House of The Dead: Overkill, and InboxDMG sccoped the gong forBest Online Title with its 3M Post It Notes title.

Axis has also created trailers and marketing content fornumerous other games including Motorstorm Arctic Edge, Brink, Mass Effect 2 and Colin McRae Dirt 2.
