BAFTA has launched the 2015 iteration of its Breakthrough Brits initiative, a competition that seeks to identify promising new talent from the worlds of games, television and film.

Applications are now open to any UK nationals at the start of their career, with credit on at least one title released between August 2014 and August 2015.

Individuals can apply themselves, while industry professionals with up-and-coming stars on their teams can also nominate by contacting breakthrough@bafta.org.

The deadline for applications is 12pm Wednesday, May 27th, after while a panel of experts in film, TV and games will select up to 20 winners. Each chosen Breakthrough Brit will receive a programme of career development support, mentoring, guidances sessions and more.

Breakthrough Brits 2015 was launched at an event in London this evening, with special guest Christopher Nolan (pictured), director of Interstellar and The Dark Knight.

“Our ambitions for Breakthrough Brits continue to grow and tonight’s inspirational event with BAFTA-nominated director Christopher Nolan is a brilliant way to launch our search for the Breakthrough Brits of 2015,” said BAFTA chief exec Amanda Berry.

“The calibre of the professionals the Breakthrough Brits meet through the development programme, and the generosity of their support, are what makes this initiative really special.”

Previous Breakthrough Brits winners include UsTwo’s Daniel Gray and Media Molecule’s Rex Crowle.
