Online giant rescues Lyon-based studio and 13 employees

Bigpoint returns to mobile with Little Worlds acquisition

Bigpoint is making a return to the mobile games sector thanks to its acquisition of the recently closed Little Worlds Studio.

The developer shut its doors last week but has since been picked up by Bigpoint, with 13 employees joining Bigpoint. Little Worlds was best known for its mobile games Mana Crusher and Color Cross Online.

The rescued team will continue developing Little Worlds titles that are already live, and begin production on new mobile games as the newly established Bigpoint Lyon. David Chomard, previously head of Little Worlds, will lead the new studio.

"We are very proud to welcome the Little Worlds team to the Bigpoint family," said CEO Khaled Helioui. "We have been impressed by their dedication and commitment to their craft and feel they can benefit from the analytics, monetisation and distribution capabilities Bigpoint has developed over the last 12 years.

"They will help us better address the massive casual and mid-core audience on mobile. This acquisition supports the overall ongoing expansion of our activities to mobile with the emergence of a new dedicated studio in Lyon that we intend to scale over the next few months."
