Massachusetts-based developer Blue Fang Games has said it is “saddened beyond words” to have cut 15 of its staff.
However, the Zoo Tycoon developer revealed that the nature of the workforce cuts were due to cyclical development processes, and not the current widespread financial pessimism which has affected much of the games industry.
Blue Fang has now finished developing its proprietary dev tech which allows the company to build multi-platform games “in less time and with significantly fewer resources,” the company said.
“While this provides a tremendous benefit to our overall business, it unavoidably means we needed to adjust both the size and mix of our development team going forward. With today’s staff reductions we have made these necessary team adjustments.”
Blue Fang did not disclose which members of staff had left.
“While we are saddened beyond words that we cannot continue to employ these talented individuals, we are also confident and excited about our studio’s future,” the group added.
THQ is set to publish Blue Fang’s World Of Zoo for PC, Wii and DS later this year.
