Brave Frontier developer Gumi has opened a new mobile game studio in Vancouver.

The developer will be headed by former Capcom senior producer and Ninja Theory producer Chris Rowe and will work on titles targeted at the North America market. Speaking to Develop, Rowe said he hopes to employ 25 staff by the time the team enters full production on its debut title.

The company already has offices in Austin, San Francisco, Tokyo, Fukuoka City, Seoul and Singapore, but is keen to further expand its presence in the West.

"We believe in a 'think global, act local' approach to mobile game development, which is focused on going beyond localisation and developing unique games for each market,” said Gumi VP of Western Studios AJ Redmer.

“This includes hiring the best local talent and expertise in each market, and having our feet on the ground. By working closely with the B.C. government and opening a dedicated studio in Vancouver, we are able to execute on our vision of a worldwide company with a truly local development approach for each game we ship."
